How to start your own website
For some unknown reason, some folks think that you need to hire a webmaster to set up a website for you. With today’s WYSIWYG (pronounced “wiz-a-wig”, but means ‘what you see is what you get’) anyone who can use a word processing program or email, can make their own website.
I hosted my very first website with Yahoo, and today I still go to them for hosting. Why? Well, here’s MY TOP 10 REASONS:
1. Their customer service and technical staff is always able to correct my problem or answer my question.
2. You get a FREE domain name when you sign on to have Yahoo “host” your website. A domain name can be anything that’s available, such as “www.YOURNAME.com”
3. Paying Yahoo to ‘host’ your domain/website starts as low as only $7.46 per month.
4. They provide you with a website design program that is so easy to use… simply point here to add a picture, point there to add text, choose the text font, color, size… just like making a regular document.
5. You can upload (put your newly created pages online) right inside of their free design program, just by clicking the “publish” button.
6. Their website design program is very user-friendly, allowing you to layout the page as you like. Other well-known hosting companies provide their own design programs, but are very “canned”. You can ONLY put text in one spot… you can only put a picture in another. Not Yahoo… layout the page as you like.
7. Within the user controls, you can install a blog as part of your website. Join the blogosphere and start writing blogs weekly or daily. Blogs bring great traffic to your site.
